Emergency Situations
To avoid a serious emergency situation please note the following:
Personal Injury
- Please ensure that everyone in your group has read and is aware of the information provided in the section of the website “House & Personal Safety & Security“.
- Please keep the telephone number of our Housekeeper to hand and contact them with any questions about how things work in the house or concerns about your safety or security.
- There is a First Aid kit hanging in the kitchen beneath the TV. THis contains basic bandages. There is a pharmacy in the village.
- The numbers for the hospital and local doctor/ dentist are provided here.
Fire/ Smell Gas
- There are fire extinguishers provided in the Kitchen, upstairs Games Room and upstairs back Landing.
- Gas can be isolated at the tank buried in the ground in the front terrace and just below the boiler itself. To isolate at the tank please lift the circular lid and turn the valve clockwise.
- In the event of serious fire risk please call 112 from a landline or mobile ‘phone. Operators normally speak English.
Leaking Water
- All water for the house can be turned off at the stop cock which is the large pipe (second to right) found under the dryer in the utility room
- For damage to the roof please contact the Housekeeper immediately who will arrange for an artisan to attend as quickly as possible.

Power Cut
- In the event of a power cut please confirm that the main switch has not fused. This can be found in the Gym and is a black button (pressing the white button turns everything off). Please press it down to confirm that power is entering the property. If this is OK then please look at the fuseboard in the Utility Room or Gym.
- To confirm that an individual circuit hasn’t fused see if any is facing the opposite direction to the others. If it is then you can try and turn the switch back to the “on” position. If it doesn’t stay in the “on” position then please contact the Housekeeper immediately.
- In the event that you are without lighting there are two wall mounted rechargeable torches for you to use located in the Hall, Upstairs Back Landing and at the top of the stairs going to the Games Room.
- The company maintaining the electricity system, Enedis (dépannage) :09 72 67 50 33. Please ask the Housekeeper to manage any issues arising with respect to this company.
Burglary
- Keeping doors and windows closed and locked will minimise this risk. You are responsible for the security of your items and the items in the property belonging to the owner whilst you are staying at Les Remparts. Please ensure that you have purchased travel insurance to cover these risks.
- In the event theft from the property please report this immediately to the Housekeeper.
- Call 112 from a landline or mobile ‘phone if you are in any danger. Operators normally speak English.
