Here are a mixed variety of places to give you a taster of the sorts of things that can be reached on foot or by bicycle from Maison Les Remparts.
Chateau de Montaigne
At Saint Michel de Montaigne, the tower of this chateau is where from 1572, Michel Eyquem de Montaigne spent his time meditating and reflecting on his famous essays.
Swimming in an inland lake
Enjoy water sports and swimming at this popular inland lake, Lac du Cadie at Mouliets & Villemartin.
Walks
There are many short walks to be made. One of my favourites is around the valley to Chateau de Sanse where one can indulge in a cool, refreshing drink on the terrace before heading back.
Castelmoron is notable for being the smallest commune in France. It has an artist studio, pottery shop and wonderful tea shop hidden away at its centre.
Brocante
There are several brocante on the D936 between Lamothe-Montravel and Montcaret.
Site Archéologique
This site exposes the remains of a sumptuous gallo-roman villa, with its beautiful mosaics. It is 7 km away at Montcaret.
Jardins de Sardy, Velines
Inspired from the English and Florentine gardens, with its flower beds, basin, and lovely paths. There is a tearoom.
Eynesse
Take a relaxing stroll down the banks of the Dordorgne, something which is particularly special at Eynesse.
Mountain Biking
There are plenty of tracks and trails for mountain biking. They can be rented and delivered to you. We have some old bikes and you are welcome to use them if they are working!
Wine Tasting
There are many places to observe and taste wine within a short distance of Leas Remparts.
