Wild Gardens & Woodland

We have acquired nearly two acres of scrubland which we shall manage to create a better managed woodland and wildlife area. The following photos show the location of the land and its condition at the beginning of our management.

Our intention is to use a ‘wild garden’ approach like can be found at Chateau de Chaumont in Loire Valley and pay particular interest to birds, bats, butterflies and bees. The 4B’s! We anticpate calling this area ‘Les Jardins des Remparts’.

We expect this area to improve over the years ahead and paying guests of Les Remparts are welcome to visit the garden to observe the progress. The Plan for the work ahead will appear here.

Postcards of the land from the second half of 1900’s show the land being used for sheep and the contours more clearly than can be seen today.
